FAQ

Common Questions

What accuracy does the FJD Trion deliver?
The FJD Trion achieves ±2cm relative accuracy in standard SLAM mode. With PPK post-processing against a known base station, absolute accuracy reaches centimetre level. Accuracy depends on environment, scan speed, and flight height for aerial captures — we include an accuracy report with every project deliverable.
Does it work without GPS / in underground environments?
Yes — this is one of the Trion's core strengths. The multi-SLAM system combines LiDAR SLAM with Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO). In GNSS-denied environments such as mines, tunnels, basements, and indoor spaces, VIO maintains trajectory accuracy using the onboard cameras and IMU, without any GPS input.
Can you process scan data we've already collected?
Yes. We accept raw data from the FJD Trion and most other major platforms (Leica, FARO, Trimble, Matterport, DJI, and others). Upload securely to our portal and we'll register, process, and return deliverables in your chosen format — standard turnaround is 48 hours.
What file formats do you deliver?
We deliver in any format you need. Point clouds: LAS 1.2–1.4, E57, PLY, XYZ, PTS. CAD/BIM: DWG, DXF, RVT, IFC, NWD. Aerial: GeoTIFF, SHP, GDB, DEM. We match your software stack — just tell us what you use.
Do you offer training on the FJD Trion?
All hardware purchases include a commissioning session and operator training. We also offer extended training packages covering field technique, data management, processing software, and deliverable production. Training can be delivered on-site or remotely. Ask us for a training quote alongside your hardware enquiry.
How long does a typical scanning project take?
A medium-sized building (1,000–3,000 m²) typically takes 1–2 days on site. Processing and delivery adds 24–72 hours. Large-scale infrastructure and multi-site projects are scoped individually. We always provide a written timeline before mobilisation.
